Principal’s Message

August 4, 2023

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!  The summer has flown by and we are preparing for a year filled with new opportunities to learn and grow.  We are continuing with our work of building strong and meaningful relationships while providing rigorous instruction.  The staff and I are working diligently to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to help them excel and reach their maximum potential.  In addition to providing academic support, we strive to provide a nurturing environment that is conducive to learning.

Our teachers devote many hours to creating and designing engaging lessons that challenge students to think critically. Although rigorous instruction is prioritized, we also focus on the whole child providing social and emotional support to our students when needed.  We realize that in order to teach a child, a child must feel safe and know that they are genuinely cared for by their educators.  Every opportunity provided is another chance for our students to grow and flourish mentally, physically, and intellectually.  To ensure a great start for each child, the staff and I have been reviewing data, collecting feedback, and reflecting on the previous year to make necessary changes to continuously improve and perfect our practices.  We strive for each year to be better than the previous and each student to abound in success.

Our school is stronger with your support and commitment to involvement.  We encourage you to be an active participant in your child’s education.  Parent and community volunteers are welcomed and appreciated.  Research indicates parental involvement increases student achievement. Opportunities for volunteering include chaperoning and attending field trips, assisting with school events, being a member of the Old Dock Elementary School Parent Teacher Association, and helping around campus with educational activities.  Complete a volunteer application so you can be part of our school family. Together, we can build a partnership that promotes the best interests of our students.  We look forward to partnering with you again this year.

Sincerely,

Leslie Faulk
