MIDDLE SCHOOL AUDITIONS:

 

  • Hosted at Nakina Middle School on February 12

 

 

Day of:

 

  • Make sure your students have their instruments before they get on the bus.
  • All directors need to arrange to bring bag lunches. Speak to your cafeteria managers ASAP (They like to know two weeks in advance).
  • Make sure your students have chromebooks/homework to keep them occupied while they are waiting.
  • Plan is to start by 9:15.
  • Check in with Chrissy-packet with student audition numbers.
  • Students will wait in the gym in their designated areas.
  • Scales are concert C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab and the chromatic scale in the All District ranges
  • Judges:
  • Flutes: David
  • Clarinet: Crystal
  • Alto Sax: Luke
  • Low Reeds/Double Reeds: AJ
  • Trumpet: LJ
  • Trombone: Allison
  • Horn/Low Brass: Wayne
  • Percussion: Anna
  • Admin stuff: Chris and Chrissy
  • Judges will escort students to the audition rooms in groups of 5.
  • “On-Deck” circle inside the gym-instruments are in cases unless students are on deck to warm up.
  • Students will bring nothing but their instrument into the audition room.
  • Chrissy will be providing sight reading. Students will have 30 seconds to look over the sight reading.
  • 8 measures
  • Directors MUST prescreen their students. A minimum score of 30 is required.
  • Have students bring money for optional concessions.
  • Chaperones-please bring at least one chaperone PER SCHOOL.
  • We must be done by 1:00

 

 

HIGH SCHOOL AUDITIONS:

 

  • No face to face auditions.
  • Cyrstal will pick solo.
  • Video submissions due by February 15.
  • Judges scores due to Kelly by Thursday, February 21.
  • Chair placements will be announced by February 25.
  • Make sure students are prepared.

 

 

HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL:

 

  • Dress code is black and white for both high school and middle school for the performance at CTA. Make sure your students are dressed appropriately.
  • DO NOT SHOW YOUR STUDENTS THE MASTER SPREADSHEET WITH ALL THE SCORES OR POST THE MASTER SPREADSHEET ANYWHERE ON SOCIAL MEDIA. THAT IS STUDENT DATA AND MUST BE PROTECTED!!!!!
  • Parents are not allowed to bring their students food during the day.
